The ban on halogen lamps has led to an intensive discussion within the European Union in recent years and has brought about numerous changes in the field of lighting technology.

Our aim is to provide you with a comprehensive overview of the halogen ban and to show which areas are affected and, above all, which are not. Because good news first: our entire halogen specialty lamp portfolio will still be available to you!

It is important to note that the halogen ban in Europe provides for some exceptions for special lamp types. These exemptions apply in particular to specialty lamps where viable and cost-effective alternatives are not yet available. This applies, for example, to certain medical applications, theater lighting or special industrial applications. Here, the use of halogen lamps will continue to be permitted as long as no suitable alternatives are available.

• Railroad ehicle lighting
• Civil aircraft
